Vancouver has many things going for it, and also some of the usual problems of a city.
I have had the pleasure of visiting my sister-in-law in Portland when she lived there years ago and I know that Portland is also a wonderful city.
Of course I would recommend visitiing Vancouver outside of he rainy periods of the year.
